AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY HANOVER RELAY FOR LIFE
MAY 19th, 2012

Kings Dominion Cares... and our employees are making a difference by teaming up to participate in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life event for Hanover County, Va. In 2012, 14 teams have joined Western Hanover event.

Five Kings Dominion Teams competed against each other to see who can raise the most money for the overall event. Team competitions have included bake sales, raffles and fundraising dinners and the competition has been fierce.

Along with helping to raise money for the American Cancer Society, our employees have chosen this opportunity to also help educate people on cancer and cancer treatments. Each team represented different forms of cancer and will gear their Team’s theme toward the cancer(s) they are representing. Each team also provided educational information, about each of these cancers, at the team’s table during the May 19th event.

Our 2012 Kings Dominion Teams represented:

Food & Beverage – Breast Cancer

Rides, Waterpark, Park Services – Skin Cancer

Merchandise, Games, Kaman’s Art Shoppes, Elaut USA – Thyroid Cancer & Throat Cancer

Entertainment, Admissions, Safety, Security – Lung Cancer

Human Resources, Finance, Marketing, Maintenance – Leukemia & Ovarian Cancer

At the event, our team camped out overnight and take turns walking around the track to raise money and awareness to help the American Cancer Society create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. We chose to get involved not only because it is a great community event, but very personal to many of us. Within our Kings Dominion Family we have a large number of survivors and caregivers and too many of us have lost someone to cancer.

Saving lives from cancer starts one team, one participant, and one dollar at a time. The employees of Kings Dominion are doing their part to make sure that cancer never steals another year of anyone's life.
