Sip of Halloween Haunt: Redrum Bloodsucker IIPA by COTU

Our partnership with local craft brewery, Center of the Universe Brewing Company (COTU) has led us down a dark, delicious path. While the park transforms into terror, we’ve been working behind the scenes to bring a new flavor to Halloween Haunt. Thanks to COTU, we’re offering the perfect concoction this spooky season. Introducing Redrum Bloodsucker IIPA; so good that it’s spine-chilling!

“We love Halloween at Center of the Universe. When we were presented with the opportunity to brew a beer to celebrate this amazing holiday and team up with Kings Dominion once again, we couldn’t wait to get started,” said Chris Ray, co-founder of COTU. “We really wanted this beer to fully encompass the terror that Haunt brings to Kings Dominion, so when we say Bloodsucker IIPA, we mean it. Using a new technique of adding beet powder to a traditionally straw-colored beer turned it into a red nightmare!”

Craft beer and Haunt lovers will unite as this drink will only be available at Kings Dominion, COTU and local Food Lion grocery stores in the Richmond metro area during the fall season. Here are the details on this spooktacular brew:

Style:  Double India Pale Ale

ABV: 8.0%

IBU’s: 47

Hops: Falconers Flight, Mosaic

The Color: COTU used all-natural beet powder to color this beer “blood" red. They wanted to ensure that they continued their commitment to whole ingredients and wanted to avoid using food coloring. We are all extremely pleased with the result! So yes, there is a vegetable in this beer.

The Flavor: This is a late hopped beer, so the hops are used almost exclusively for flavor and aroma and less on bitterness. Flavors of stone fruit, citrus, and a little spice dominate both the taste and aroma of this beer.

COTU Specially made IIPA For Kings Dominion's Halloween Haunt

We hope you have just as many chills as we do with the new brew coming to Kings Dominion during our 19th annual Halloween Haunt event. Redrum Bloodsucker IIPA will be available specifically in the park at The Parched Pig in Old Virginia, Juke Box Diner in Candy Apple Grove, Outer Hanks in Safari Village, Pizza Parlor on International Street and two pop up bars located in Safari Village and under the Eiffel Tower starting September 21. For the latest eerie updates on what’s coming to the park, keep up with our blog or follow us on social media @kingsdominionva.
