Opening Weekend Success at Grand Carnivale

Parade, party and pageantry were in full effect this weekend as we kicked off the debut of our Grand Carnivale celebration! We couldn’t have asked for better weather and were so excited to see all our guests getting involved in our Spectacle of Color parade and Carnivale Street Party, dancing with our entertainers and catching beads that were thrown from the extravagant floats. While we don’t want to spoil the magic for those who haven’t had a chance to experience the event for themselves, we wanted to highlight some of our favorite moments from the opening weekend of Grand Carnivale.

The King and Queen of Grand Carnivale (Carl Nivale and Cara Nivale) were on site to kick off the Opening Ceremony at the Bandstand, as they will be throughout the entire event starting at 5:00 PM each evening.

The official Opening Ceremony signals that all food and entertainment options around International Street will now begin. Each country has its own stage, food/drink tents and craft section – it may take a couple trips to visit all five! PS – we highly suggest purchasing a Food Tasting Card in order to get the best deal on these authentic eats and treats. This allows you to try up to six different items from any of the countries the day of your visit for just $30.00. Food Tasting Cards are available for purchase online and at the park!

Along with authentic entertainment options, there were also little touches such as our live painters throughout the countries, who added a bit of overall charm to the event itself.

Our favorite part of the event is our Spectacle of Color parade, which starts every night at 8:00 PM (although we suggest grabbing a good seat earlier!). It starts down near Twisted Timbers, making a stop along Candy Apple Grove and ending around the Eiffel Tower. We recommend grabbing a spot somewhere along Candy Apple Grove, as this is where the parade makes a stop to engage with guests and put on a high-energy performance. This parade isn’t meant to just sit and watch – our performers will encourage all guests to join in on the fun!

Beads aren’t just thrown on our buildings – they’re also thrown from our floats to onlooking guests during the Spectacle of Color parade!

When the parade ends, the party REALLY begins! Our Carnivale Street Party carries over as soon as the parade ends, where guests can dance the night away with our entertainers. This includes our seasonal show, Hot Rhythm Nights, and a DJ to keep you moving all night long!

Okay, so we said we didn’t want to spoil the fun for anyone who hasn’t been to the event yet, but we can’t help but show off what a fun weekend it was at Grand Carnivale! We’ll leave you with this short recap video of our Spectacle of Color parade to give you an idea of what went down at Kings Dominion this past weekend. Make sure to visit the park before July 7 to experience all that is Grand Carnivale! We’ll also be highlighting the entire event right here on our blog, so stay tuned for more AMAZING updates.
