Richmond Region Tourism celebrated National Travel & Tourism Week in style with the 2019 Tourism Awards Breakfast at the Dewey Gottwald Center. As a long-standing partner in the local tourism industry, it was our honor to support the event, and even received the prestigious 2019 Chairman’s Award due to years of support and collaboration with the organization.

Tony Johnson, Vice President and General Manager of Kings Dominion, graciously accepted the award on Kings Dominion’s behalf and had this to say about winning: “We are so proud and honored to have received this award. The Richmond Region is full of fantastic local attractions and organizations, and to be recognized among the best is a true honor.”

Richmond Region Tourism spoke highly of our contribution to tourism in the Richmond area with our continuous improvement and facility expansions that drive visitation.

“Last year’s major capital investments brought Twisted Timbers, a thrilling new hybrid steel and wood coaster. The park also extended the season and introduced WinterFest, the wildly popular winter wonderland featuring ice skating, performances and interactive activities.

Kings Dominion’s history of hosting events in partnership with Richmond Region Tourism dates back decades. Highlights include support of the I Am Tourism Ambassador program and hosting our most highly attended 2018 Holiday Party during WinterFest.”

THANK YOU Richmond Region Tourism for all you do for the surrounding area and for honorable award! We’re so glad we can help contribute to the growth of the beautiful Richmond, Virginia area.

National Travel and Tourism Week is America's annual salute to tourism and it serves to champion the power of the industry. In the Richmond Region, tourism is a major economic driver where 7 million visitors spend $2.4 billion annually. Next year, National Travel and Tourism Week will be held May 3-9, 2020.
