Celebrate Memorial Day weekend at Kings Dominion

Every day seems to get warmer and sunnier, which can only mean one thing- summer is on its way! Memorial Day weekend is another sign of summer arriving, so come celebrate the sunshine by heading to Kings Dominion during our Memorial Weekend Salute, along with the opening and beginning of many exciting activities throughout the park!

While Memorial Day weekend is known for upcoming summer festivities, we need not forget the real reason for the holiday- honoring our brave service members who have fallen in the line of duty. Though no gift can truly repay the sacrifice our troops have given to our country, we are offering FREE park admission to all active and retired military! Along with free park admission, we are also offering their family members a special discount on park admission when they purchase tickets online. Just bring a valid military ID or D.D.214 to the ticket services windows to receive our special salute to you!

To kick things off, we are more than ready for the return of Soak City on May 25! Pick out your favorite bathing suit, pack the sunscreen and get ready for a splash-filled day in our all-inclusive, 20-acre waterpark. Whether you’re looking to relax on the Lazy Rider, suntan at Tidal Wave Bay or take a drop on Paradise Plunge, Soak City has something for families of all ages.

While you’re in the park, you might notice some extra entertainment and music in the air. That’s because *five* new shows will kick off starting May 25 all around the park! The Grove Stage, located in Candy Apple Grove, will feature our new show, Country Crossroads, where you can find the perfect mix of country and pop to dance to. Grab a beer* at our new taproom, The Parched Pig, and show us your best dance moves, as the Pub Crawlers will be taking over Old Virginia and bringing some of the most popular line dances with them. Make your way to Candy Apple Grove to join our dynamic party band, Twisted Groove, who know how to have a good time! We’ve shown you a preview of Lumina, our interactive light show, that will take place every evening on International Street. Lastly, we’ve got the sounds of summers past playing down in Soak City with the Yacht Rockers performing at Tidal Wave Bay Beach. You can learn more about all our new shows on our website, so you don’t miss out on all the fun!

*Must be 21 or older to purchase and consume alcohol. Please drink responsibly.

For those who have kept up with our blog or have been to the park this season already, you should have noticed the upgrades being made to the Eiffel Tower and surrounding area on International Street. While pavers have replaced the asphalt surrounding the Tower, the Tower itself has been cleaned, primed, and painted for the first time in 15 years as part of a renovation project for the 2019 season. While crew members have been working since January to brighten the space, the time has come for guests to experience breathtaking views from the top again – the Eiffel Tower will reopen for guests to enjoy starting May 25! We’re so excited for guests to enjoy the newly renovated icon during our Grand Carnivale celebration in June, which will feature an extravagant parade that ends at the Tower itself.

We also have the perfect thing to showcase the beauty of the Eiffel Tower during Memorial Day weekend – fireworks! As the sun sets each evening from May 25–27, find a comfy spot in the park to view bigger and brighter fireworks than ever before at Kings Dominion! Our firework show will light up the sky each evening against a backdrop of patriotic music – what better way to close out an AMAZING day at the park?

Phew- that’s a lot going on! Visit our website to learn more about our Memorial Weekend Salute, new shows that will be kicking off and how you can get your ticket or Season Pass to experience it all! As always, stay tuned to our blog and social media for all the latest updates on what we’re up to at Kings Dominion.
