WinterFest is upon us, and we're here to help you make the most of your visit! From scoring the best deals on tickets to can't miss experiences, take a look at our 12 top tips for your upcoming visit to WinterFest.
1. Score the Best Deals on Admission
Everyone always wants to know “Where can I find the lowest price on tickets." During WinterFest, if you aren’t a 2024 or 2025 Gold, Prestige or Pre-K Season Passholder (since those Passholders get unlimited visits to WinterFest), the best place to purchase your tickets are on Kings Dominion's official website. But remember, if you purchase a 2025 Season Pass now, you'll get unlimited visits the rest of 2024 and all of 2025!
2. Get the WinterFest Package
The absolute best deal we offer currently is the WinterFest Package, starting from $49.99. While saving up to $29, you'll receive single day admission to WinterFest, a single meal deal, and a souvenir hot chocolate mug that comes with free refills for the rest of the night and $1 on future visits.
3. Get there Early for the Tree Lighting Ceremony
Each night of WinterFest kicks off with holiday cheer at 5:15 P.M. on the Grande Bandstand in front of the Eiffel Tower. You won't want to miss this festive show where the casts of Cool Yule Christmas, along with Snoopy and a special guest each night, help us illuminate the park and our 300-foot tall Christmas tree!
4. Download the Official Kings Dominion App
When you come into the park, the Kings Dominion app will be your best friend. Locate restaurants, rides, activities, showtimes and more in the palm of your hand. The app is your companion guide to ensure the most merry visit to WinterFest!
5. Meet the Characters
You probably already recognize a few of the characters from our social media and now you finally get to meet them. There are tons of characters roaming the park waiting to interact with you and take pictures. They've all made WinterFest their home and are ready to spread holiday cheer all around the park! P.S. If the Belsnickels "talk" to you - nod and smile and maybe high five. We promise, they're very friendly.
6. Take TONS of Pictures
WinterFest is full of perfect photo moments. If you’re still looking for that perfect family photo to tuck into your cards, look no further. You can hop in a sleigh, pose with the characters, make a snow angel, or just pose with our incredible 40, 70 or 300 ft. trees. That being said, make sure you use #KDWinterFest when you share on social media and share the WinterFest joy!
7. Stay Warm and Know Where to Warm Up When Jack Frost is Nipping at Your Nose
We don’t call it WinterFest for nothing! Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather – and if you need an extra hat, scarf or gloves, one of our festive gift shops has you covered. Need a break from Jack Frost nipping at your nose? We recommend catching a performance of Tinker's Toy Factory in the Kings Dominion Theater for the perfect way to warm up and take a break from the lights and sights. Be sure to locate some of our space heaters and fire pits throughout the park to warm up while you take in the sights and enjoy some delicious treats.
8. Take a look at our food offerings
WinterFest is bringing lots of exclusive specialty food items for the whole family to enjoy. Whether you find yourself craving a gingerbread funnel cake, Hot Cocoa, or a traditional Christmas dinner, WinterFest has food and drinks that are guaranteed to get you in the holiday spirit!
9. Did someone say free refills?
Who doesn’t like hot chocolate? Souvenir hot chocolate mugs include free refills for the remainder of your visit, and $1 refills for the rest of WinterFest in 2024. With only fifteen minutes in between refills, imagine all the hot chocolate! Souvenir mugs can be added to ticket purchases online, so be sure to add one to your ticket to enjoy hot cocoa all visit long!
10. Can’t Wait?
We can’t either! The best way to wait less and ride more during WinterFest is to purchase Fast Lane, allowing you to skip the lines and spend more time enjoying the holiday festivities! Fast Lane will allow you to wait less on some of your favorite attractions such as Twisted Timbers and Dominator!
11. There’s a lot to do! Save time and Plan Ahead
Check out the website before you visit WinterFest. There’s a lot to do like shopping, rides (weather permitting), merriment characters, photo opportunities, ice skating, Christmas crafts, festive food, games, cookie decorating, live shows, meeting Santa (PHEW! That was a lot…), and just taking in the sights of the park transformed into a WinterFest wonderland. Plan ahead of time your must-do’s at WinterFest and consider purchasing things like ice-skating and cookie decorating ahead of time.
12. Unlock Special Holiday Magic with Interactive Wands or Ornaments
Make WinterFest extra special by purchasing an interactive bubble wand or holiday ornament! These items interact and change colors with select shows and areas throughout the park.
