7 Tips for your WinterFest Visit

WinterFest is now open daily, and we're here to help you make the most of your visit! From scoring the best deals on tickets to can't miss experiences, take a look at our 7 top tips for your upcoming visit to WinterFest.

Score the Best Deals on Admission

Everyone always wants to know “What’s the best deal?” in terms of tickets. During WinterFest, if you aren’t a 2018 or 2019 passholder (since passholders get unlimited visits to WinterFest), the best deal, hands down, is the All Inclusive Ticket. This ticket includes parking, admission, a single meal deal, and refillable hot chocolate mug and you get free refills on the mug during your first visit. (Refills are $1 with tax on any other visit this season.) In case you’re curious, that’s a savings of up to $37. Or, if you're looking to grab a single day ticket real quick - they're as low as $25 online here.

Get there Early for the Lighting Ceremony

Each night of WinterFest kicks off with holiday cheer at 5:30 on the Grand Bandstand infront of the Eiffel Tower. You won't want to mis this festive show where the casts of Cool Yule Christmas and Holly Jolly Trolley, along with Snoopy and a Special guest each night, help us illumate the park and our 300-foot tall Christmas tree!

Get an Experience Guide

When you come into the park, next to the maps and at the guest services window you’ll see a little pocket sized experience guide. Inside this handy-dandy guide is everything you need to know about WinterFest like show times, shop descriptions, food offerings and more. Plus, the only names that have stayed the same are the names of the rides and this guide tells you what you’re looking for on the map.

Meet the Characters

You probably already recognize a few of the characters from our social media and now you finally get to meet them. There are up to 34 characters roaming the park waiting to interact with you and take pictures. Candy Cane, Jack Frost, Sugar Plum Fairy -- even Cookie Caramel, General Napolean and Captain Macaron -- have all made WinterFest their home and are ready to spread holiday cheer all around the park! P.S. If the Belsnickels "talk" to you - nod and smile and maybe high five. We promise, they're very friendly.

Speaking of Pictures

WinterFest is full of perfect photo moments. If you’re still looking for that perfect family photo to tuck into your cards, look no further. You can hop in a sleigh, pose with the characters, make a snow angel, or just pose with our incredible 40, 70 or 300ft trees. That being said, make sure you use #WinterFestKD when you share on social media and share the WinterFest joy!

Stay Warm an Know Where to Warm Up When Jack Frost is Nipping at Your Nose

We don’t call it WinterFest for nothing! Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather – and if you need an extra hat, scarf or gloves, one of our festive gift shops has you covered. Need a break from Jack Frost nipping at your nose? We recommend catching a performance of Charlie Brown’s Christmas Spectacular in the Kings Dominion Theater for the perfect way to warm up and take a break from the lights and sights. Be sure to locate some of our space heaters and fire pits throughout the park to warm up while you take in the sights and enjoy some delicious treats. Little ones can also warm their hearts and minds indoors with some creative time in Sally’s Christmas Crafts in Charlie Brown’s Christmas Town.

There’s a lot to do! Save time and Plan Ahead

Check out the website before you visit WinterFest. There’s a lot to do like shopping, rides (weather permitting), merriment characters, photo opportunities, ice skating, carriage rides, Christmas crafts, festive food, games, cookie decorating, 13 live shows, meeting Santa (PHEW! That was a lot…), and just taking in the sights of the park transformed into a WinterFest wonderland. Plan ahead of time your must-do’s at WinterFest and consider purchasing things like ice-skating and cookie decorating ahead of time.

We wish you the merriest and can't wait to spread holiday cheer with you through New Years Eve!
