The Best Ways to Savor International Chocolate Day at the Park

Welcome to the most underappreciated holiday of the year – International Chocolate Day. If you’re like us you’ve had a countdown going on your computer. However, if this sweet holiday snuck up on you, no worries -- we’ve got some delectable, chocolaty treats in the park to help you celebrate.

One Stop Chocolate Shop

Make a pit stop by Peppermint Patty’s Candy Shop down the right hand side of International Street as you enter the park for some fantastic finds. Our favorites include a selection of truffles, fudge and dipped pretzels. Delicious? Absolutely.

Gourmet Chocolate Dipped Pretzels

Chocolate dipped pretzels are a classic everyone can love. Pick from coatings like Reece Pieces, white chocolate. M&Ms and more to amp up this sweet treat.

Homemade Fudge

Another classic, melt in your mouth delight is the selection of fudge you can find in at Peppermint Patty's. Of course there’s traditional chocolate fudge, but we also recommend chocolate walnut if you’re feeling a little nutty. Our other two recommendations are as tasty as they are eye catching. Chocolate and peanut butter are swirled to perfection for this must have comb. And, for the mint chocolate lover, the chocolate mint fudge is a must.

Chocolate Truffles

Last but certainly not least, are the truffles. While the shop carries a large selection of chocolates, these eye catching beauties are on the top of our list. Sundae Bash Truffles topped with a cherry jelly bean and Gimme S’mores Truffles topped with a marshmallow flavored jelly bean satisfy the eye and the chocolate craving. That being said, no list would be complete without the Sea Salt and Caramel Truffle.

I Scream You Scream, We All Scream for Chocolate Ice Cream

Kings Dominion is also prepared for the hot summer with chocolaty ice cream and milkshake options. For your ice cream fix, check out Fountains and Floats down the left side of International Street as you enter the park. You can also find chocolate soft serve and Hot Fudge Sundaes at Sweet Tooth located in Candy Apple Grove near Drop Tower.

A Twisted Chocolatey Shake

If you're looking for an AMAZING sweet treat - you must try our Chocolate Signature Milkshake (May have sampled it a few times to make're welcome) This shake can be found at Juke Box Diner, down by Twisted Timbers, and comes in a souvenir jar. Comprised of chocolate and caramel ice cream layers that are swirled with chocolate fudge. Finally, the shake is topped with whipped cream, pretzels (for that sweet and salty fix!), chocolate syrup and  -- you guessed it -- chocolate shavings.

Choose your own adventure and enjoy every single bite!
