Lead Auto Mechanic

 

Kings Dominion has an immediate opening for the position of Lead Auto Mechanic in its Rides Maintenance Division in Doswell, Virginia. This full time position will report to the Auto Shop Supervisor.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Lead Auto Mechanic is responsible for maintenance and repairs of park vehicles, rides and all other gas and diesel units. Serves as the lead mechanic for the Auto Shop.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must possess a valid VA State vehicle inspection certification.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law
  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test and background check, which may include, but is not limited to credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Diagnoses and determines repair requirements for mechanical, electrical and problems with park owned vehicles and selected rides. This includes: problems involving brake components, on board electrical systems, on board computer systems, fuel injection systems, engines, power trains, front ends, steering systems, cooling and heating systems, guiding systems, safety systems, etc.
  • Welds, modifies and fabricates parts as necessary.
  • Maintains vehicle records, such as preventative maintenance records, registration and inspections.
  • Assists the supervisor in overseeing subordinate staff of auto mechanics to include scheduling, assignment of work, addressing performance or disciplinary situations, and provides input into selection, promotion, demotion and termination decisions. Performs required VA state vehicle inspections on park owned vehicles.
  • Adheres to and enforces all park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to guest service in all aspects of employment.

Executive Chef

Kings Dominion has an immediate opening for the position of Executive Chef in Doswell, Virginia. This full time position will report to the Director of Food Operations.

JOB SUMMARY:
Develops menus, recipes, and preparation methods for all restaurant and quick service locations in conjunction with Food Management. Assists in the development and training of both full-time and seasonal support staff to ensure they are certified to perform their respective duties to meet divisional standards. This position reports to the Director of Food Operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality/Culinary or a related field or equivalent of combined education and experience.
• Minimum of 5-7 years related experience in food and beverage operations/chef.
• Demonstrated ability to work in an independent environment with minimum supervision.
• Ability to effectively communicate with various parties in daily operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Ensures all food preparation personnel are properly trained and certified to perform their respective duties to meet divisional standards in conjunction with department managers. Assists with coordination of the Food R&D program for the division.
• Ensures all food quality standards are consistently maintained throughout the division. Ensures compliance with all local, state and federal regulations for food service operations ensuring these regulations, as well as company and divisional policies, are effectively being carried out in all kitchen facilities in conjunction with department managers.
• Oversees operation of Commissary. Plans and oversees the execution of special event catering and park guest experiences.
• Maintains effective communication with all employees and staff members, informing the Director of all developments arising within the division on a daily basis.
• Motivates supervisors and associates to seek improvement in individual performances.
• Manages seasonal support staff and addresses disciplinary situations accordingly.
• Adheres to and enforces all park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to guest service in all aspects of employment.

Rides Maintenance Mechanic

Kings Dominion has an immediate opening for the position of Rides Maintenance Mechanic in Doswell, Virginia. This full time position will report to the Supervisor of Rides Maintenance.

JOB SUMMARY:
Inspects, maintains and repairs rides and equipment as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma supplemented by three to five years of experience in mechanical/industrial maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Knowledge of all phases of mechanical work including pneumatics, hydraulics, repair, overhaul and preventive maintenance.
  • Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to climb heights up to 350 feet.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Basic welding helpful.
  • Must provide own tools.
  • Position requires rotating first and second shifts; including weekends and holidays during the operating season.

  • Designs and fabricates parts; rebuilds components.
  • Winterizes and winter rebuilds rides as assigned. Conducts non-destructive testing.
  • Saws, repairs, restores and reupholsters ride seats.
  • Operates rides, boom truck, overhead crane, forklift, man lift, hoist, air compressor, hydraulic press, milling machine, diagnostic equipment, welding equipment, hand and power tools, cutting torch, etc.
  • Adheres to and enforces all park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to guest service in all aspects of employment.

Manager - Maintenance Facilities and Construction

Kings Dominion has an immediate opening for the position Manager- Maintenance Facilities and Construction in Doswell, Virginia.  This full time position will report to the VP- Maintenance

JOB SUMMARY:

Plans, schedules and manages the daily operation and maintenance of park maintenance and construction projects, ensuring compliance with budgets, applicable policies, procedures, and standards of quality and safety.  Oversees the daily operation of the park maintenance department.  Supervises and reviews the work of subordinate’s managerial staff.  Performs related administrative, supervisor and technical duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Administration/Engineering or equivalent prior work experience
  • 5-7 years related experience in Facility Maintenance , or project management
  • Working knowledge of County and State construction and building codes and guidelines
  • Proven experience in estimating construction projects and establishing budgets
  • At least five years of project superintendent experience preferred
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the supervisors and function the of Landscape, Fiberglass, Carpentry, AC&R and Plumbing shops.
  • Manages all park construction projects to be completed according to plans and specifications. Works with hazardous material engineers and contractors on the demolition of required projects
  • Creates scopes of work for architects, engineers and contractors for all phases of Capital & EWO projects. Works with architects and engineers during the beginning phase of the project to complete designs according to established drawings completed by Cedar Fair Corporate Design team and outside architects.
  • Works with architects, engineers, structural, civil, electrical and mechanical; ride manufacturers; city, county and state authorities; fire department; health department; numerous outside contractors and engineers; Cedar Fair Corporate Design team; and all divisions within Kings Dominion from establishing project scopes through the completion of the actual construction project.
  • Compiles, evaluates, negotiates and awards contracts with consultants, contractors and vendors. When bids exceed budget, initiates, executes, and negotiates changes to the scope and design with the design group and contractors bidding the work.
  • Ensures the availability of all needed materials and equipment for the smooth and efficient completion of all projects.
  • Ensures compliance with all Federal, State and local requirements.
  • Prepares annual department budget and monitors on a continual basis. Provides input for developing budgets for future Capital projects and monitors budgets for those projects.
  • Continually updates and modifies budgets and provides financial reports to the VP of Maintenance and Construction.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Sales Representative is responsible for developing, managing, and increasing sales within assigned geographic territory as well as Kings Dominion’s major "In-House" accounts.  The Senior Sales Representative will also serve as the functional leader for the 2 territory sales reps which report to this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, Sales or other related field.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in Marketing, Sales, Theme Park, Entertainment, Hospitality or Travel Industry or other related field
  • Demonstrated ability to work in an independent environment with minimum supervision and deliver against set goals.
  • Strong time and project management skills and experience.
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills, experience in public presentations, superior spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends as required by business and account demands.

  • Develops, manages, and sells to new and existing accounts within a very critical and competitive geographic territory or business segment through in-person sales and service calls, ensuring both parks meet or exceed established goals. Manages territory/segment by spending a minimum of 60% of time soliciting sales at customers' or potential customers' places of business.
  • Establish and maintain rapport with clients and potential clients. Follow up with clients after client outings ensuring client satisfaction on all levels. Respond to inquiries regarding sales and events from customers and potential customers in a timely manner. Respond to client complaints in a timely manner and proactively with issues for resolution. Assist in maintaining up-to-date and accurate client information.
  • Oversee The Norfolk and North Carolina Sales Regions, working in conjunction with the sale rep to identify new opportunities and to provide support and training to help develop the regions.
  • Oversee house account clients such as Entertainment Benefits group and others that may apply.
  • Track and analyze sales data and report changes and trends to Sales Director CRM lead for sales activity on a weekly basis.
  • Interact and communicate positively and successfully with various groups and individuals such as the immediate supervisor, other park managers, co-workers, other park employees, clients/potential clients, vendors and the general public. Participate in sales training and professional development sessions as required.
