Kings Dominion has an opening in its Park Maintenance Division for a Painter. This position will report to the Foreperson of Creative Services.

JOB FUNCTIONS SUMMARY:

Responsible for the painting of Kings Dominion’s park facilities. Assists in oversight of paint contractors when they are working on sight. Performs related work as required. Assists in the Creative Services shop as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.
  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Paints wood, metal parts, equipment, interior and exterior of buildings, rides and other structures using brushes, rollers and spray gun. Determines the most appropriate type of paint finishes and equipment to be used in assigned projects.
  • Prepares paint colors by determining the appropriate mix of various paint tints. Prepares wood, metals and other surfaces to be painting by sanding and scraping. Prepares and applies special glazes and faux finishes as needed; decorative finishes include stippling, graining, marbling and mottling. 
  • Prepares reports documenting color formulas and amount of materials used in each project.
  • Coordinates work projects and assignments with supervisor and other park departments. 
  • Operates variety of equipment including: forklift, JLG lift, spray gun, power tools, saws, cranes, sand blasters, power washers, air compressors, tint machines, artist tools, drafting tools and hand tools. 
  • Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.

Kings Dominion has an opening in its Park Operations Division for Area Manager, Safety. This position will report to the Manager, Loss Prevention.

JOB FUNCTIONS SUMMARY:

Under occasional supervision, manages the park’s daily risk exposure in the areas of fire protection/prevention, safety and safe work practices, first aid, workers’ compensation claims, and liability claims. Ensures compliance with all safety laws, rules, and OSHA and environmental regulations. Manages and reviews the work of subordinate staff.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Oversees the day-to-day activities and overall operations of the Safety Department, which includes onsite first aid and fire prevention personnel.
  • Manages all aspects of the Safety department’s staff to include hiring, training, development, supervising, coaching, and scheduling.
  • Assists in developing and implementing park safety policies, procedures, standards, and training programs.
  • Maintains cooperative working relationships with local fire and EMS departments as well as other regulatory agencies. Assists in overseeing regulation and compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA regulations, etc. Assists in resolving compliances issues.
  • Manages and assists in resolving liability and workers’ compensation claims.

LANDSCAPE TECHNICIAN
Kings Dominion has an immediate opening in its Park Maintenance Division for the position of Landscape Technician in Doswell, VA. This full time position will report to the Landscape Supervisor.

JOB SUMMARY:
Performs various landscape related tasks as required in the maintenance of Park grounds. Performs basic maintenance and repair on small machinery and equipment. Performs related work as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associates degree in Horticulture or Landscape studies preferred.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.
  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, or state law.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Knowledgeable in the installation, maintenance and operation of commercial irrigation systems
  • Knowledgeable in plant materials and landscape techniques appropriate to the local climate.
  • Operates heavy equipment and machinery in the maintenance of park grounds. Includes: backhoe, bush hogs, loaders, bulldozer, forklift, water trucks, JLG lift, lawn tractors, chainsaws and other various hand and power tools.
  • Assists in the supervision of the park walkway wash down program.
  • Responds to acute animal pest control problems such as wasps, yellow jackets, mice, ants, snakes, etc.
  • Assists in the duties of waste management by collecting and compacting cardboard, cleaning around trash compactors and pulling dumpsters.
  • Performs basic tasks of landscaping and ground maintenance including mulching, mowing, tree trimming, pruning, irrigation, etc. Assists in the removal of snow, ice, leaves and other debris from the park in the off-season.
  • Provides guest service according to Cedar Fair standards when serving the guest or working with subordinates, including initiating guest interactions, answering questions and giving directions.
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety in assigned work area and performs all duties in compliance with Cedar Fair Safety guidelines and requirements and reports all unsafe or unusual conditions to supervision.
  • Meets scheduling availability requirements, including nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operates overhead crane, forklift, man lift, hoist, air compressor, hydraulic press, diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools, etc.
  • Conducts winterization and winter maintenance of computerized ride control systems and electrical equipment in the park and campground.
  • Able to climb and work at heights of 350 feet.
  • Assist in installation, remodeling, retrofits and rehabilitates rides and buildings as needed.
  • Responds to work orders and ride downtime calls in a timely manner.
  • Modifies electrical/electronic systems as needed to ensure ride safety and efficiency.
  • Diagnoses electrical problems, initiates required repair work, maintains and troubleshoots AC/DC motors, drives, monitoring equipment, relays, switches, limiters, transformers, etc. and maintenance as required.
  • Maintains and repairs park lighting and fixtures.
  • Installs electrical conduit and wiring; cleans electrical equipment and components; maintains controls on rides; maintains ride lighting.
  • Conducts preventative maintenance on rides, computerized ride control systems, electrical utilities and equipment.
  • Performs daily inspection, maintenance and repair computerized ride control systems, electrical utilities and equipment in the park and other equipment as needed.
  • Provides guest service according to Cedar Fair standards when serving the guest or working with subordinates, including initiating guest interactions, answering questions and giving directions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees and participates in the installation, maintenance and repair of thematicelements and ornamental signage throughout the park. Ensures parkwide paint program is implemented to provide a fresh and appealing appearance for all park facilities. Makes recommendations on repair and replacement of related elements throughout the park. Monitors the acquisition and use of materials.
  • Adjusts the daily work assignments of staff to account for equipment availability, project delivery timelines and staff abilities.
  • Coordinates with suppliers, contractors and engineers concerning equipment installation and repair ensuring adherence with project deadlines and compliancewith company and regulatory guidelines and procedures.
  • Ensures budgeting guidelines are met; prioritizes expenditures to stay within
    budget and assist with preparation of annual labor and P&L budgets.
  • Manages direct reports performance issues, addresses disciplinary situations,
    and provides input into selection, promotion, demotion, and termination
    decisions. Conducts performance appraisals on an annual basis with each directreport.
  • Works closely with Cedar Fair Planning and Design team on thematic elements, paint schemes and signage installations throughout the park.
  •  Provides guest service according to Cedar Fair standards when serving the
    guest or working with subordinates, including initiating guest interactions,
    answering questions and giving directions.
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety in assigned work area and performs all duties incompliance with Cedar Fair Safety guidelines and requirements and reports all
    unsafe or unusual conditions to supervision.
  • Meets scheduling availability requirements, including nights, weekends, and
    holiday periods to meet business needs.
