Kings Dominion has an immediate opening for the position of Lead Auto Mechanic in its Rides Maintenance Division in Doswell, Virginia. This full time position will report to the Auto Shop Supervisor.

JOB SUMMARY:
The Lead Auto Mechanic is responsible for maintenance and repairs of park vehicles, rides and all other gas and diesel units. Serves as the lead mechanic for the Auto Shop.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Must possess a valid VA State vehicle inspection certification.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law
  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test and background check, which may include, but is not limited to credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy.
  • Strong, instinctive work ethic.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Diagnoses and determines repair requirements for mechanical, electrical and problems with park owned vehicles and selected rides. This includes: problems involving brake components, on board electrical systems, on board computer systems, fuel injection systems, engines, power trains, front ends, steering systems, cooling and heating systems, guiding systems, safety systems, etc.
  • Welds, modifies and fabricates parts as necessary.
  • Maintains vehicle records, such as preventative maintenance records, registration and inspections.
  • Assists the supervisor in overseeing subordinate staff of auto mechanics to include scheduling, assignment of work, addressing performance or disciplinary situations, and provides input into selection, promotion, demotion and termination decisions. Performs required VA state vehicle inspections on park owned vehicles.
  • Adheres to and enforces all park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to guest service in all aspects of employment.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

JOB SUMMARY:
Monitors and assists in supervising daily Games Operations of the park to generate revenue though in-park spending. Supervises and reviews the work of seasonal supervisory and managerial staff. Performs related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Has a thorough knowledge of the methods, procedures and policies of the Park as they pertain to the duties of the Games Area Manager. Is knowledgeable in the laws, ordinances, standards and regulations pertaining to specific duties and responsibilities of the position. Is able to help ensure the departmental compliance with all laws and regulations and control the activities of the department through effective supervision.
  • Has a knowledge in the areas of amusement park/Games Operation and management, merchandising, inventory management, budgeting, accounting, etc. Is able to make sound, educated decisions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, retail or related field supplemented by one to two years in business retail operations and management, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervises seasonal department Supervisions and Managers; supervisory duties include instructing; assigning, reviewing and planning work of others; maintaining standards; coordinating activities; allocating personnel; selecting new employees; acting on employee problems; recommending and approving employee promotions, transfers and discipline, and recommending discharge.
  • Monitors and assists in supervising the Games Operations of the Park.
  • Tracks financial performance of the Games Department; prepares related reports.
  • Monitors inventory and orders supplies as required. Creates displays, stocks merchandise, replenishes, collects, changes money, and records fund intakes as needed.
  • Keeps abreast of retail trends, technology and products for the Games / Theme Park industry. Receives and responds to guest inquiries, concerns and complaints; takes corrective action as needed to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Receives and reviews various records and reports including staffing reports, cash reports, warehouse order forms, inventory reports, cost of sales reports, work permit reports, personnel action forms, attendance reports, performance appraisals, counseling forms, active not paid reports, operations reports, income statements, till summary reports, schedules, labor reports, guest services reports, budgets, contracts, applications for employment, seasonal associate files, etc.
  • Prepares and/processes performance evaluations, financials by business type reports, commission reports, expense reports, project requests, bonus reports, inventory reports, purchase orders, budgeted documents, forecasts, personnel action forms, check requests, attendance reports, seasonal employee handbooks, various other reports, memos, correspondence, etc.
  • Adheres to and enforces all park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to guest service in all aspects of employment.

EXECUTIVE CHEF

Kings Dominion has an immediate opening for the position of Executive Chef in Doswell, Virginia. This full time position will report to the Director of Food Operations.
 

JOB SUMMARY:
Develops menus, recipes, and preparation methods for all restaurant and quick service locations in conjunction with Food Management. Assists in the development and training of both full-time and seasonal support staff to ensure they are certified to perform their respective duties to meet divisional standards. This position reports to the Director of Food Operations.


QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality/Culinary or a related field or equivalent of combined education and experience.
• Minimum of 5-7 years related experience in food and beverage operations/chef.
• Demonstrated ability to work in an independent environment with minimum supervision.
• Ability to effectively communicate with various parties in daily operations.

Ensures compliance with all local, state and federal regulations for food service operations ensuring these regulations, as well as company and divisional policies, are effectively being carried out in all kitchen facilities in conjunction with department managers.
• Oversees operation of Commissary. Plans and oversees the execution of special event catering and park guest experiences.
• Maintains effective communication with all employees and staff members, informing the Director of all developments arising within the division on a daily basis.
• Motivates supervisors and associates to seek improvement in individual performances.
• Manages seasonal support staff and addresses disciplinary situations accordingly.

JOB SUMMARY:
Inspects, maintains and repairs rides and equipment as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma supplemented by three to five years of experience in mechanical/industrial maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
• Knowledge of all phases of mechanical work including pneumatics, hydraulics, repair, overhaul and preventive maintenance.
• Must be at least 18 years old and have a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to climb heights up to 350 feet.
• Ability to work independently.
• Basic welding helpful.
• Must provide own tools.
• Position requires rotating first and second shifts; including weekends and holidays during the operating season.

• Winterizes and winter rebuilds rides as assigned. Conducts non-destructive testing.
• Saws, repairs, restores and reupholsters ride seats.
• Operates rides, boom truck, overhead crane, forklift, man lift, hoist, air compressor, hydraulic press, milling machine, diagnostic equipment, welding equipment, hand and power tools, cutting torch, etc.
• Adheres to and enforces all park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to guest service in all aspects of employment.
