The shimmering International Street Fountain has transformed into an ice skating wonderland for WinterFest. Built with 22,000 square feet of real ice, Snow Flake Lake is your go-to place for ice skating in Richmond. Make your Snow Flake Lake experience magical by following our helpful tips to get onto the ice in a breeze.

Schedule your session ahead of time

There are several 90 minute session times available throughout each night of WinterFest. Everyone can enjoy one of the largest and most picturesque ice skating venues in Richmond by reserving a time that works best for them. While you can enter at any time during your session, but once you leave the Snow Flake Lake area, your session will end. There are a limited number of reservations for each session, so be sure to book your spot in advance!

Fill out your waiver ahead of time

Save time and make your trip as smooth as possible by filling out the waiver in advance before you get to your session. All skating participants are required to complete the waiver, which can be found online to print and be complete at home. Guests under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign the waiver.

Get to your session at least 15 minutes early

Save time and get to the ice quicker! Depending on the size of your party, allow time for everyone to complete registration, turn in the waivers and collect your gear.

Make sure the kids are skating safely

Guests under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a supervising companion while on the ice. A supervising companion is someone that is 14 years of age or older. Make sure the kiddies have someone to help them across the ice safely. For the little tykes, skates are available to quickly attach onto their shoes and skate assists are available for beginners.

Bundle up on the ice

Since the rink is outside on the beautifully lit International Street, we recommend wearing warm clothes to stop the chilly breeze Jack Frost might bring. Be sure to add socks to your ensemble because they are required to ice skate!
