For some, today is just another Friday. For us, it’s a celebration of 44 years filled with thrills, attractions, and memories at Kings Dominion. On May 3, 1975, Kings Dominion officially opened its doors to the public and has been providing a space for guests to experience AMAZING ever since.
In honor of our anniversary, we wanted to take a walk down memory lane with you. Here’s to many more years of adventure at Kings Dominion!
Anaconda, built in 1991, was one of the first coasters of it’s kind to feature an underwater tunnel. Just during the 2018 season, it gave nearly 500,000 total rides to guests visiting the park.
Our Grand Carousel moved to the park in 1975 after its refurbishment and relocation and is one of the last wooden carousels left operating in the world at 102 years old. Still a family tradition after all these years!
Not just a fancy time piece, the floral clock has become an icon in itself. We’ve just added a bit more color to it!
Country Kitchen has been a family meal staple at the park since its opening and is still serving fresh favorites in Old Virginia today.
International Street and the monumental fountain have been a picture-perfect part of the park from the beginning. Just look how much it’s blossomed!
Formerly the Scooby-Doo Ghoster Coaster, the Woodstock Express opened with the park in 1974 during its soft opening. For many of us, this is and was our first “big” coaster ride in the park.
And of course, no look down memory lane would be complete without a peek at the iconic Eiffel Tower from before the park opened to now.
