Fun for Kids at Grand Carnivale

You’ve seen our Grand Carnivale celebration online and in the park, but you still might be wondering if it is just as entertaining for the kids as it is for adults. In honor of our last full week of Grand Carnivale, we wanted to highlight all the ways that kids will have just as much fun as the adults in our international celebration!

Authentic Crafts

Each country has its own section along International Street, which includes authentic food, entertainment and crafts specific to that culture. Our craft tables give you a chance to sit and relax, while your child can let their creativity run wild! We do have Grand Carnivale staff on site to help kids complete the craft and assist when needed.

Kicking off with Italy, a great way to get in the Grand Carnivale spirit is by making a colorful mask. The brighter the better!

Kids can craft a Carnivale Shaker Stick, perfect for waving in the air during our Spectacle of Color Parade!

Fun fact: paper was actually invented in China! Kids can make their own colorful paper lanterns in our China craft section.

Kids can take home a piece of Germany when they make their own Carnivale Crowns! Match our own King and Queen of Carnivale, who kick off the Opening Ceremony and lead our Spectacle of Color Parade each evening.

A piece of treasure awaits at our India craft tent, where kids can thread their own bracelet! The bright and colorful beads match the vibrant décor of the India section of the park.

Along with a specific craft tailored to each country, we also have postcards available at each craft tent that kids can color and send to friends and family near and far. Here are a few masterpieces from some of our guests!

Adventure Club

Calling all young explorers: Grand Carnivale has a special challenge for you! Recommended for ages 7-12, any explorers that are up for a fun challenge packed with clever clues and mind-bending puzzles can follow these five simple steps to become an official explorer at Grand Carnivale!

Step One: Start at any country showcased in Grand Carnivale (India, Germany, France, China, or Italy). We recommend picking up an Adventure Club Guidebook before starting as well, which you can find at any of our Grand Carnivale stations on International Street.

Step Two: Find a roaming Carnivale Ambassador or international character and say “hello” in the country’s main language (don’t worry, a cheat sheet is included within the guidebook!). This will let the Ambassadors know that you are an Adventure Club recruit looking to earn a membership badge.

Step Three: The Carnivale Ambassador or international character will lead you to that country’s specific adventure.

Step Four: Head out on your quest! Once an individual challenge is complete, the Ambassador will award you with a sticker or stamp. Each Ambassador will give you all the information you’ll need to know in order to solve your puzzle.

Step Five: Once your guidebook is complete, you’ll be awarded an official Adventure Club badge and be able to call yourself an international explorer!

Kids have LOVED taking this trek around the world right here at Kings Dominion, while getting to learn more about each country. Each Carnivale Ambassador will be able to help your child understand their mission and how to proceed after completing each task – all leading up to earning the special badge at the end!

Spectacle of Color Parade and Carnivale Street Party

We’ve said it before, but this is NOT a parade meant to just sit and watch – our entertainers want to engage and interact with guests during the show! Starting at 8:00 PM down in Candy Apple Grove, the parade will make one stop to put on an interactive performance with lots of dancing to the catchy beat of the music. Beads are thrown from the last couple of floats, along with streamers blasted into the air, to give an even greater sense of celebration during the parade.

Once the parade makes its way to the Eiffel Tower, the final performance begins with *you guessed it* even more dancing! People of all ages are encouraged to bust a move with our entertainers and get into the Carnivale spirit, as the Spectacle of Color Parade transitions into the Carnivale Street Party.

Complete with bright lights and upbeat music, entertainers join the crowd for a dance party like no other right in front of the Eiffel Tower! Our seasonal show, Hot Rhythm Nights, keeps the crowd moving with songs that won’t allow you to sit still. The party continues into the night until closing, where fireworks cap off an extravagant evening each day.

These are just a few of the ways that kids will have the time of their life at our Grand Carnivale event! With only a few days left, make sure to head out to the park and take part in all the cultural activities throughout International Street. Grand Carnivale runs through July 7 and is included with park admission.
