Kings Dominion’s Planet Snoopy Named One of the World’s Best

DOSWELL, VA (September 9, 2013) – Kings Dominion is excited to announce the bigger, better Planet Snoopy children’s area has been named by Amusement Today’s annual Golden Ticket Awards as the 5th “Best Kids’ Area” in the world. 

Planet Snoopy at Kings Dominion opened on March 29, 2013 and is the world’s largest PEANUTS-themed children’s area with 18 rides, designed specifically for families to experience together. Planet Snoopy also featured three new live shows in 2013, including “All Wheel Sports”, a BMX-style bike show featuring bikers, skaters and gymnasts who were semi-finalists during Season 7 of NBC’s America’s Got Talent.

“I would like to thank those who voted to recognize the new Planet Snoopy as one of the Best Kids’ Areas in the world during its first season of operation,” said Kings Dominion Vice President and General Manager Pat Jones. “Kings Dominion is committed to providing our guests and families with a family-friendly atmosphere and we will continue to build upon that in the future.”

In addition to Planet Snoopy, three of Kings Dominion’s world-class roller coasters were named in the “Top 50 Steel Roller Coasters in the World” category by Amusement Today’s annual Golden Ticket Awards. They include:

• 10. Intimidator 305
• 39. Volcano: The Blast Coaster
• 47. Dominator

This is the first time since its opening in 2010 that Intimidator 305 has been named in the Top 10 of the “Top 50 Steel Roller Coasters in the World”. Earlier this season, the Dale Earnhardt inspired roller coaster was named one of the top coasters in the world on an episode of Travel Channel’s “Insane Coaster Wars: World Dominator”. Volcano: The Blast Coaster placed second in an episode of “Insane Coaster Wars” World Dominator” earlier this year, as well.

This is the 16th year for the prestigious Golden Ticket Awards, which are presented annually to the “best of the best” in the industry, and are calculated from an international poll conducted by Amusement Today, an Arlington, Texas-based publication that covers amusement and water park news and trends.
